About 20 railcars carrying potash derail in Hope, B.C.

According to Drive BC, the crash occurred at the Hunter Creek rest area west of Hope, which is causing a visual distraction for drivers on Highway 1.

CBC News reported that CN Rail confirmed that crews are responding to the derailment of at least 20 railcars at a railbridge, that no one was injured, there weren’t any fires, and that an environmental team is also responding as several of the railcars are in the water.

This crash occurred after a number of incidents and developments in B.C. over the weekend, including a major fire at a New Westminster pier, the Sea to Sky Gondola collapsing after the cable was cut for a second time, and Vancouver ranking as one of the cities with the worst air quality in the world due to smoke from wildfires.
