Transfer Deadline Day is here and Arsenal fans will be hoping the Gunners can pull off a last-minute deal.
Mikel Arteta appears to have missed out on Houssem Aouar after the Lyon midfielder committed his future to the Ligue 1 club.
However, Arsenal continue to be linked Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, although the Gunners are reluctant to trigger the £45million buy out clause in his contract.
Matteo Guendouzi is set to be loaned out, as he completes a medical ahead of a move to Hertha Berlin.
Willian Saliba could make a surprise return to Saint-Etienne as Arsenal explore ways to get the teenage regular minutes this season.
As part of the agreement that allowed Saliba to sign for Arsenal last summer, he was allowed to stay at Saint-Etienne on loan but he had an injury-hit season and issues off the pitch.
This season, he is yet to appear for Arsenal and the Gunners are keen to send him out to continue his development.
Former Arsenal player Paul Merson is delighted at the prospect of Thomas Partey finally arriving at the Emirates.
Merson told Sky Sports News: « I think he’s a top drawer player. I nearly fell off my chair at that price!
« At £45m, I don’t think that’s a lot of money at all for the quality of player you’re bringing in here.
« The one thing he brings as well is discipline. He’s played at Atletico Madrid who are probably one of the most disciplined teams in Europe and he will do that.
« He’s not a midfield player who will go running all over the place, where you’re thinking: ‘Where’s he gone?’
« He’s very disciplined, he plays in a disciplined team and I think he would be a great signing. »
The 21-year-old is yet to play for the Arsenal first team but recently made his international debut for Northern Ireland.
More good news for Gunners fans because according to Swedish outlet Sportbladet, Arsenal are set to sign 18-year-old striker Nikolaj Duus Moller.
That would mean no further negotiation with Atletico is needed and all focus can be on agreeing personal terms with the Ghana international

Thomas Partey’s Public relations officer, Samuel Zigah has teased a possible deal with a cryptic hint on social media.
It looks increasingly like it will be a frustrating end to the window for Arsenal fans that want to see new arrivals.
Atletico are confident they will keep hold of Partey and Goal report that the midfielder won’t push for an exit amid links to the Premier League.
Guendouzi is closing in on a move to Hertha Berlin, with the midfielder undergoing a medical with the Bundesliga club.
Upon completion of that, he will sign a season-long loan deal with the Germans, after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta.
Reports in Germany suggest Hertha will pay a hefty €4m fee to acquire him on loa, as well as paying the entirety of his wages for the upcoming season.
The Gunners had hoped to sign the 22-year-old, but the club, and now the player have confirmed he will stay put.
Aouar has spoken to the French media, revealing why he made the decision to stay with the French outfit.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said: “Atletico Madrid are convinced Thomas Partey is staying. Let’s see if there’ll be some late move to trigger his [release] clause, but Atleti are not expecting anyone.”
According to the Athletic, Arsenal have let go Jerry Quy, the man who has played mascot Gunnersaurus since 1993.
A deal for Partey may not materialise, but his Atletico Madrid teammate Thomas Lemar could make the move to north London.
The Telegraph report that the Spaniards are willing to sanction a loan deal for the France international winger, with Arsenal already registering their interest.
Partey is a name that has been linked with Arsenal for much of the window.
The Ghanaian international has been suggested as a potential alternative for Aouar, who now looks set to be staying with Lyon.
Atletico are willing to sell, but only if they match the £45m release caluse in his contract.
The Gunners have failed to reach that so far and the Athletic report that it is ‘unlikely’ a deal for the midfielder will be completed before tonight’s deadline.
The French midfielder has fallen out of favour under Arteta and the Gunners have been looking to offload him for much of the window.
Moves to Marseille, Lyon and Villarreal have all fallen through, but Hertha could be willing to sanction a move.
A season-long loan deal is said to be close, which could open the door for arrivals before 11pm tonight.
Speaking after yesterday’s win over Sheffield United, the Gunners boss revealed he was confident that deals would be completed before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
« I am confident we know exactly what we want to do. We are trying our best to finalise the deals. Let’s see what happens. I cannot comment [on players]. At the moment there is nothing definite.
« I cannot discuss the players we want. We recognise certain positions we are short in numbers and quality.
« I’m really happy with the players that I have, that is my job. Whatever we can add, of course, we will try to do it but we have to be realistic. It’s a give and take. Whoever jumps on the boat will be welcomed. We all share the same ambitions, we have a clear direction. »
Arsenal are still in the market for a central midfielder, as their summer-long pursuit of more creativity goes down to the wire.
Arteta has been a long-term admirer of Houssem Aouar, but Lyon looked to have killed that deal after confirming he will stay with the club.
Elsewhere, Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid and Jorginho from Chelsea could both be potential arrival on the final day of international window.
In terms of exits, Arteta is busily trying to whittle down his playing squad, with a number of fringe players set for exits.
Lucas Torreira is waiting to complete his move to Atleti, while Sead Kolasinac, Matteo Guendouzi and Shkodran Mustafi could all complete exits.
