Novak Djokovic has given an update on the shoulder injury that led to his US Open frustration, insisting that it’s ‘okay for now.’

Djokovic injured the shoulder during his fourth round clash with Pablo Carreno Busta in New York that ended in his disqualification.

He appeared to be hampered by the injury when broken by the Spaniard just before accidentally striking a line-judge with a spare ball.

He, though, says it’s all systems go ahead of his return to tennis at the Italian Open this week.

“I spent some time with my family and I looked at my shoulder that I hurt a little bit when I fell down,” Djokovic explained to reporters.

“It’s okay for now so I’m going to be playing Rome and hopefully getting far here.

“I don’t think I’ll have any major issues coming back to the tour and being able to perform well. I have my first chance here in Rome.

“It’s great I think I have a tournament a week or 10 days after it happened because I feel the earlier I get back in competition mode the faster I’ll overcome the memory and re-programme it. I’m hoping for the best.”
