The actress, 31, who is best known for playing Lady Sybil in the much-loved series, confirmed the couple’s big day on Instagram, revealing that they tied the knot in a church ceremony on Saturday.
Jessica shared snaps from the wedding with her followers, including a shot of her wearing a vintage-style bridal gown and throwing her arms around a suited and booted Ziggy after saying, ‘I do’.
Another sweet photo saw the newlyweds stealing a kiss, as they cuddled up together at the back of a red bus that had ‘wedding special’ written across its destination board.
Jessica added the snaps as a highlight to her Instagram profile, including another of her wedding cake, which she joked was ‘devoured in minutes’ by the pair’s guests.
The following day after her wedding, Jessica shared another black and white photo of her hugging Ziggy from the ceremony, as well as a picture of her in a pretty red dress jumping on a huge bed.
Hinting that the pair were forced to keep their wedding celebrations small due to coronavirus restrictions, Jessica captioned her post: ‘♥️wins every time . A weekend of dreams.
The star celebrated her 31st birthday on September 14 – two days after heading down the aisle – meaning it had been a double celebration for her over the weekend.
Jessica had never publicised her engagement to Ziggy, but the pair first met three years ago in 2017 on the set of Hulu series Harlots.
She appeared in the main cast of the show as Charlotte Wells, while Ziggy starred as character Sam Holland in a recurring role.
The series was cancelled after three seasons, with its third season airing in July 2019.
Jessica first appeared in Downton Abbey back in 2010 and starred in the show’s first three seasons, before leaving in 2012 – a decision she said had terrified her.
Speaking previously of her exit, Jessica said: ‘When I made the decision to leave Downton, I had no job prospects or anything.
‘Walking away from this unbelievably wonderful project was terrifying… but I realised I had so much to learn.’
