At the age of 16 and one day, Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko became the youngest player in Bundesliga history on Saturday when he made his German league debut in the 5-2 meeting at the Hertha Berlin
Moukoko’s late cameo on the bench at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium broke the previous record set by Nuri Sahin, who was 16 and 335 days old when he made his league debut for Dortmund in 2005
Moukoko took over after 85 minutes to replace Erling Braut Haaland, who scored four goals in the second half in a superb result
« He just turned 16, it’s unbelievable, » Haaland said of Moukoko. « He has a great career ahead of him »
Moukoko made his Bundesliga debut after being dazzling in German youth football with a stunning 47 goals in 25 appearances for Dortmund U19
He could also become the youngest player in Champions League history if he takes part in the home game against Brugge on Tuesday
He could break the record held by Nigerian Celestine Babayaro, who was 16 years and 87 days old when playing for Anderlecht in 1994/95
