A young woman tragically drowned while trying desperately to rescue another swimmer after a horror afternoon in Victoria’s waters
The woman, aged 20, had rushed to help a teenage boy who was fighting in the water at Venus Bay in the Gippsland area of Victoria around 7am on Wednesday evening at 30pm
She also got into trouble in the water and had to be pulled ashore by an off duty lifeguard, where, despite desperate efforts, she could not be resuscitated
Rescue workers (pictured) were called to Bushrangers Bay after a woman drowned Wednesday afternoon, one of three drownings in Victoria within a matter of hours
It comes after another woman, 45, drowned hours earlier after being swept off the rocks in Bushrangers Bay at the foot of the Mornington Peninsula
Police believe that a 13-year-old girl, a 19-year-old girl and a 47-year-old woman were swept off the dangerous rocks at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday
