EbeneInfo – GB – Andy Murray: The two-time Wimbledon champion tests positive for coranavirus

Former world number 1 Andy Murray has tested positive for coronavirus but still hopes to play at the Australian Open next month

The 33-year-old Brit was supposed to be traveling to Australia on one of the tournament organizers’ 18 charter flights but is still isolated at home

Murray, who is reportedly in good health, is hoping to arrive in Australia at a later date and still take part in the tournament due to be held on Aug. February begins

Murray and his team are working closely with Tournament Director Craig Tiley to find an acceptable solution that will enable him to compete in this year’s Grand Slam

The tournament organizers have spent several months reaching an agreement acceptable to local and national government agencies to accept more than 1000 tennis players and associates to Australia to negotiate

Players must arrive in the country within the next 24 hours before completing a two-week quarantine period that allows them to practice from their rooms for five hours a day

Murray will continue his comeback at some point this year, fearing that the 2019 Australian Open could be his last tournament as a professional due to persistent hip problems

Murray needed a wild card for the Australian Open as his world rankings are currently 123
