The 17-year-old is one of the most exciting young players in the sport and is being continually linked with a move to Real Madrid despite having played less than 50 games as a professional player.

However, you only have to look at his highlights from some of those performances with Rennes to see exactly why people are tipping him to become a future Ballon d’Or winner.

And there could be no bigger show of faith than Didier Deschamps including him in the latest France squad for the second international break amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lest we forget that France are world champions, European Championship finalists and just happen to have one of the deepest and most stacked squads in international football.

Therefore, it’s a pretty strong show of faith to be implementing a player who was born in late 2002, but it didn’t take Camavinga long to display exactly why there’s so much hype surrounding him.

That’s because Camavinga scored within the opening 10 minutes of his very first start for France, quickly reacting in the penalty area after Olivier Giroud’s back-post header was saved.

But this was no ordinary rebound goal, oh no, because Camavinga acrobatically looped the ball into the far top corner with an instinctive bicycle kick – check out the inspired moment down below:

At 17 years and 11 months, it makes Camavinga the second youngest goalscorer in France history with only Maurice Gastiger having found the net at a younger age all the way back in 1914.

It’s typical of Camavinga’s playing style, too, that his first goal came in such dramatic fashion with so many of his finest performances for Rennes featuring incredible skills and Neymar-like tricks.

It couldn’t be any clearer why Camavinga is so highly rated and justly takes his place alongside Barcelona’s Ansu Fati as one of the most promising teenagers playing in Europe right now.

And his moment of brilliance seemed to tee up his nation for a comfortable first-half with Giroud, on the night of his 100th cap, making it 2-0 to become France’s second all-time top scorer.

The Chelsea man then made it 3-0 before the half-time break to start his assault on Thierry Henry’s record, reminding everybody why he’s one of the most underrated players in the world.

It elevated him to 42 goals for Les Bleus to be exact, surpassing the tally of the great Michel Platini as well as sending him clear of legends like David Trezeguet and Zinedine Zidane.

But even on a night intended for Giroud, which he more than lived up to, the headlines will rightfully centre around Camavinga and his dramatic curtain-raiser on the international stage.
