City boss was full of praise for his Elland Road heroes and wants to help the squad with more additions
Grant McCann hopes to have positive news on new arrivals at Hull City in the coming days to give the squad depth with games mounting up.
The Tigers boss says the club continue to work hard on bringing players in to supplement a group buoyed by Wednesday night’s terrific win at Leeds United in the Carabao Cup, which sets them up for a visit to West Ham United next midweek.
City, who gave a debut to Monday’s arrival Thomas Mayer in the second half of the penalty shoot-out win at Elland Road, remain keen to add to their wide options as well as in the midfield engine room of their squad, though McCann was keen to heap praise on his side for their terrific display against Premier League opposition.
“We’re still working hard. We’re looking in two areas, the attacking area and in midfield. We’re working very hard on trying to add to the group, really,” McCann told BBC Humberside.
“We know the season’s going to be long and we just want to keep the group nice and strong for this run in.”
McCann refused to be drawn on comments made this week from Exeter City chairman Julian Tagg about the club’s bid for Randell Williams, with Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony ruling Posh out of the running which appeared to leave City in pole position to sign the 23-year-old winger.
“I’m not going to speak about anybody else’s players, I’m not about that,” said the Tigers chief.
“People will like to speculate and people will come and say things – ‘there’s a bid from here and there’s a bid from there’, that’s not for me.
“We’ll let other people do the talking and we’ll do our business behind the scenes and hopefully we can get the ones we want in.”
