IPL 2020 Live Score, KKR vs RCB Match Today: Dinesh Karthik falls, RCB get 5 KKR wickets in 9 overs

KKR vs RCB, IPL 2020 Live Cricket Score, Match 39: Kolkata Knight Riders win the toss and opt to bat first against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the match No. 39 of the Indian Premier League in Abu Dhabi. KKR have the chance to catch RCB with a win…

IPL 2020 Live Score, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Ddinesh Karthik. Mohammed Siraj picked up three wickets in 2 overs to rock KKR early after captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and opted to bat first against RCB in Abu Dhabi. Siraj dismissed Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana in his first over and then got rid of Tom Banton in his second. Both Sunil Narine and Andre Russell did not find a place in the KKR Playing XI because of fitness issues. Tom Banton got another crack while Prasidh Krishna returned. For RCB, right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj replaced Shahbaz Ahmed. The race to play-offs in Indian Premier League 2020 has suddenly turned interesting with KXIP’s hat-trick of wins. KKR too strengthen their position at No.4 with a Super Over win against SRH but Eoin Morgan has a few problems with their being Narine and Russell not being there. Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, will look to exploit that attack KKR at the top when these two sides meet in Abu Dhabi today.

Wow what a review that one from Virat Kohli. He was the one who was keen to go for it and it proves to be the right call. Three reds and Yuzvendra Chahal has dismissed former KKR captain Dinesh Karthik to stall whatever mini recovery he and Morgan had done. KKR 32 for 5 now.

Just over the outstretched hands of the fielder and Eoin Morgan hits his first six of the match. That was smart from Morgan. He targeted the short part of the ground and got just enough to clear the ropes. KKR 30 for 4 after 8 overs.

SHOT! A thunderous cover drive from Eoin Morgan. It was a floating half volley from Isuru Udana and Morgan planted his front foot and rove it with disdain.

Only 2 runs from Mohammed Siraj’s third over, nothing out of the ordinary apart from the fact Siraj gave his first runs of the match in this over. So at the end of the powerplay, KKR are tottering at 17 for 4. Where do they go from here? They have Morgan and Karthik – KKR’s two most experienced batsman – in the middle.

Technically another maiden as the only run in Chris Morris’ over came from a leg bye. RCB are all over KKR at the moment. Eoin Morgan tried to break the shackles by giving himself room but failed to find the gap in the off side. KKR 15/4 after 5 overs.

Another wicket maiden from Mohammed Siraj. He is yet to concede a run in his two overs and has already picked up the wickets of Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana and Tom Banton.

Edged and taken! Mohammed Sirja can do no wrong today. Perfect delivery outside off stump, just a hint of away movement and no feet from Banton. It takes the outside edge and de Villiers takes a simple catch. Siraj has 0/3 now.

A superb straight drive for a four and then a power-pakced flat pull shot that carries over the ropes, Tom Banton releases some pressure and shows his class. KKR desperately need a partnership and Banton has showed good signs.

What is happening here? Shubman Gill has played one of the worse shots to throw his wicket away when his team were 3 for 2. Now make that 3 for 3. Navdeep Saini won’t complain. It was short delivery, Gill tried to pull it off his front foot, got an edge and the fielder made no mistakes. So KKR have lost 3 wickets for no runs.

Two wickets in two balls. Mohammed Siraj has just lit up Abu Dhabi with Test match lengths. He first got the outside edge from Rahul Tripathi’s bat and then bowled a beauty of a delivery that came back in to knock over Nitish Rana for a duck. A double wicket maiden for Siraj. KKR 3/2.

A very good first over from Chris Morris, only 3 runs from it. This has been the problem for KKR throughout this IPL. Their openers have failed to get them off to a flying start. Will it change today? We have Siraj from the other end.

So we have our answer. Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi have walked out to open the batting for KKR. Chris Morris has the ball in hand for RCB. We are all set for the first ball.

Right KKR once again have too many options for opening the batting with. Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi have been their preferred choice but with Tom Banton coming in, it would interesting to see what Eoin Morgan does.

“The wicket looks good. The games we have won so far, the majority of them we have batted first. It seems to have worked for us throughout the tournament so far. There’s (batting in the powerplay) been continuous improvement for the start of the tournament to the last game. In the last game, we paced it really well. The wickets have been slower which has made it more challenging. The guys at the top against Sunrisers did a great job.”

“Looks like a good pitch, shoerter boundary on one side. It should be a good chase as long as we bowl well first and restrict a strong batting line-up to a decent total. It’s not a drastic change, on the day if you are playing well, you can win on any ground. We bowled them out cheaply in Sharjah which was supposedly not happening in any game. We did play good cricket last time here. It’s all about how we come out to the field and execute our plans.”

Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli(c), AB de Villiers(w), Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Washington Sundar, Chris Morris, Mohammed Siraj, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal

Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan(c), Dinesh Karthik(w), Tom Banton, Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy

Two changes for KKR. There are fitness issues with Andre Russell, so he misses out and Suil Narine is still not a 100%. Tom Banton and Prasidh Krishna come in for KKR.

Kolkata Knight Riders win the toss and opt to bat first against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi.

The average first innings total at Abu Dhabi this IPL has been 164. What do you think the par score will be tonight?#KKRHaiTaiyaar #Dream11IPL #KKRvRCB

It’s a fresh pitch, there might be good bounce as there is an even covering of grass. It is also hard so fast bowlers will enjoy bowling on it. There will be minimal turn for the spinners, they have to be more guileful and have to mix things up: Darren Ganga and JP Duminy with the pitch report.

KKR opener Shubman Gill is the only KKR batsman to cross the 300-run mark in this IPL so far but his strike rate of 115 is the lowest among cricketers who have scored more than 250 runs this year. Hi needs to fire at the top in order to ease the pressure on the likes of Morgan and Karthik.

AB de Villiers just took the game away from KKR the last time these two teams met in this IPL. KKR’s best bet against AB ‘freak’ de Villiers is Sunil Narine, who has got him out 3 times in the IPL. Narine is set to return to KKR’s Playing XI today.

In the last 6 matches, Virat Kohli has scored 30+ runs in each of those matches.Kohli at no 3 is averaging an outstanding 69.20 from 8 innings. Kohli is the 5th highest scorer of IPL 2020 and is the only non-opener out of the top 7 run scorers in IPL 2020. Kohli has now scored 347 runs, at an average of 57.83. It is his best season in IPL barring the unbelievable 2016 season.

As much Gautam Gambhir, the ‘KKR boy’ would hate to admit but he does think ‘RCB have the advantage and look a better balanced side than KKR on paper’.

Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers (wk), Shivam Dubey, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Washington Sundar, Chris Morris, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal

Rahul Tripathi, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Eoin Morgan (c), Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Varun Chakravarthy

despite Cummins unimpressive run in IPL 2020, he has earned 141.5 MVP points so far with the average of 15.72 per match. His 141.5 MVP points in IPL 2020 has put him at the 12th position this season till now — 4th best position in the list.

Cummins has bowled 3rd most dot balls so far in powerplay so far in IPL 2020. Furthermore, Cummins is among the most effective bowler against openers in IPL 2020. He has the economy of 6.92 against openers in IPL 2020 — 5th best among pacers in IPL 2020.

Superman, alien, freak – The adjectives keep coming as AB de Villiers produces eye-popping performances match after match year after year. He is only 58 runs from completing 8000 runs in T20 cricket and you wouldn’t wanna bet against him not getting those today against KKR.

Milestones were supposed to be rare, until AB de Villiers came along. 😎@ABdeVilliers17#PlayBold #IPL2020 #WeAreChallengers #Dream11IPL #KKRvRCB pic.twitter.com/r4x7C0jnu9

Narine wasn’t included in KKR’s last match against SRH despite his action being cleared by the committee because of not being a 100%. He is more or less certain to get his position back in the Playing XI today against RCB. If Russell is not fit enough then Narine can take his place.

Chris Morris since his return from injury has been superb picking up 9 wickets, the most by a RCB bowler despite playing only 4 matches. Morris has an economy of 5.25, the best by a bowler in IPL 2020. (More than 4 overs).

Morris’s average of 9.33 is also the best by a bowler in IPL 2020. (More than 4 overs). The biggest positive for RCB is Morris’s death bowling. Morris has an economy rate of 4.8 in the death overs, the best by a bowler in IPL 2020

Today’s match against RCB will be KKR captain Eoin Morgan’s 300th T20 match of his career. He will be the third player from England to reach this landmark.

The Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore have met 25 times in the IPL. KKR hold the upper hand with 14 wins, while RCB have won 11. Virat Kohli’s men did beat KKR in the first encounter of IPL 2020.

There are various repots suggesting that he isn’t and might miss today’s match against RCB. Andre Russell hasn’t been able to light up this IPL but his mere presence in the KKR Playing XI is enough to strike fear in the opposition’s den.

Eoin Morgan and Virat Kohli are arguably two of the most successful captains going around in world cricket. It’s true they are blessed with two great sides when it comes to international cricket but their shrewd tactics often act as the catalyst for that success. In IPL, however, both of them haven’t tasted much success while Morgan is only 2 match old, Kohli is yet to replicate his international record with RCB. Today, it will be a test of tactical acumen of these two captains.

This is a clash that is guaranteed to make changes in the top four. If KKR win today, they will catch RCB with 12 points but if they don’t RCB will go past Mumbai Indians and take the second spot behind the leaders Delhi Capitals.

Hello and welcome to the Indian Premier Leaguematch No.39 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi today.
