Motherwell assistant manager Keith Lasley believes victories for his side and the other two Premiership sides in Europa League action this week can bring a feel-good factor to Scottish football.
The Steelmen take on Coleraine in Northern Ireland tomorrow evening while Rangers are in Gibraltar to square-off with Lincoln Red Imps and Aberdeen travel to Norway where they’ll face Viking.
Lasley understands that, statistically, coefficient points are riding on the trio. But for the feeling in Scotland, the games could be even more important.
He said: « It’s vitally important, if you strip it back to the coefficient and things like that, but I just think for the feeling surrounding the game I think for ourselves, Aberdeen, Rangers playing this week, it’s important that we do get through. Our game does take a battering at times, rightly so on some occasions, a lot of the time not for the right reasons.
« I think there is a lot of good things happening in Scottish football so the more we can progress hopefully that adds to that narrative and, certainly, we’re hopefully going to do our bit on Thursday. »
