The great Broncos’ Corey Parker has been struck off the team’s coaching staff, claiming he has resigned without being officially notified

Former Brisbane Broncos captain Corey Parker has reportedly been struck off the team’s coaching staff, claiming he has resigned without head coach Kevin Walters officially announcing

Parker served as assistant coach to Anthony Seibold during a tumultuous 2020 season that saw the Broncos finish last in the NRL rankings

After Seibold stepped down from his role in August, the 347-game star Walters advised him before and after his appointment as head coach in the squad

However, when Parker spoke to Peter Badel of The Courier-Mail, he found that he was never officially informed of his resignation Instead, he found that he had been fired after calling Walters personally earlier this year

“In the conversations I had with Kevvie (late last year), he indicated that he wanted me to be included and loved what I was doing,” Parker told The Courier-Mail

“We all left for the (Christmas) break and at no point during that time has anyone suggested that the coaching role should not continue

“However, you don’t have to be an Einstein to find out what’s going on when the Broncos return to training and you haven’t been notified

“When the new year was over I picked up the phone and called Kev to find out where I was and for whatever reason, he didn’t want me to be on the team this year”

Despite the “disappointing” ordeal, Parker firmly believed there was no bad blood between the two who won a home state title together at the Queensland Maroons in 2016

“Sometimes honest conversations are difficult and not everyone is comfortable,” Parker told The Courier-Mail

“I’m a big boy though and have known these people for many years. It shouldn’t be difficult to communicate or be transparent

Ironically, Walters was also deposed as assistant coach of the Broncos by legendary Wayne Bennett in 2005

Brisbane hits on Friday the 12th March, at the Suncorp Stadium on the Parramatta Eels to play the first game of the Premier League in 2021
