News – AU – Preview: Egypt’s Ahly faces a difficult mission against Simba from Tanzania to secure early CL qualification – Egyptian Football – Sports

The Tanzanian team will receive the giants of Cairo in the national stadium as part of a do-or-die mission for both teams Both want to continue their strong starts in the prestigious group stage of the competition

Ahly’s mission won’t be easy, especially after the hosts beat strong rivals Vita Club of DR Congo 1-0 away in the opening group stage game last week

Nine-time African champions Ahly started the group stage in six games by beating Sudan player Al-Merrikh 3-0 at home last week to take the group A driver’s seat with three points and the same points with group opponent Simba to share

Ahly’s South African coach Pitso Mosimane said his team respect his opponent Simba while insisting that qualifying early for the quarter is a priority for his team this edition

“We see the group stage differently this time as we are trying to secure the qualification early, unlike last season when the qualification from the last round took place after Al-Hilal from Sudan passed,” Mosimane said at the press conference before the game on Monday

Mosimane also said he had no specific plans to deal with the weather in Tanzania, but assured that technical changes would only be made to beat Simba

“Simba are a great team but we only came here to win and we believe we are facing tough opponents who are very popular at home

“I’ve studied Simba well and they have great players. It’s going to be a great game against a strong and well-organized team, but we’re aiming for a positive result to ensure early qualification,” he concluded

On Tuesday, Ahly will be without Ali Maaloul, winger Taher Mohamed Taher and striker Salah Mohsen due to various injuries

Meanwhile, Ahly’s efficient defender Ayman Ashraf has been made fit for the Simba game after a muscle injury, while striker Marwan Mohsen may be available after retraining

“Ahly was negatively affected by the tough games at the Club World Cup and that was the main reason for the recent various injuries as we played three games in just nine days. We will benefit from the experience we have during the Club World Cup Games, “added Mosimane, who led Ahly to the bronze medal at the Club World Cup

On the other hand, Simba coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa showed full confidence in his players in order to produce an outstanding performance against the defending champions

“I asked my players to talk to Ahly and do their best during the game,” Da Rosa told ON Sport on Saturday

“I hope there will be a large number of fans in the stands as it will be a big game,” he added
