The Grammy-winning duo pioneered the French house scene in the 1990s and has sold millions of albums worldwide

Paris-based electronic music duo Daft Punk has announced that it will be leaving after nearly three decades

The couple behind some of the greatest dance and pop hits of all time shared an eight-minute video on their YouTube channel entitled “Epilogue.” The clip is an excerpt from their 2006 science fiction film Electroma

Pitchfork reports that their longtime publicist Kathryn Frazier confirmed the news when asked if the duo was done

Daft Punk was founded in 1993 by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Baltanger in Paris and pioneered the French house movement of the 1990s

They released their debut album “1997’s Homework” for critical raves and commercial success, including their hit singles “Around the World” and “Da Funk”

With the release of their 2001 follow-up Discovery, the duo began to wear their now legendary robot outfits in public and in press appearances

Over the years, the duo have sold millions of records and earned multiple Grammy awards, including five in 2014 for their album Random Access Memories, which collaborated with Nile Rodgers and Pharrell

That same year they had a cameo in Mia Hanson-Love’s feature film Eden, about the dance music scene they pioneered the film follows an aspiring DJ trying to navigate the industry

In their scene, Bangalter and Homem-Christo are shown trying to enter a nightclub only to be turned away by a doorman who doesn’t recognize them by their robotic outfits, the couple also accepted a lower fee for the one Rights to their music in the film

Daft Punk had been relatively restrained since Random Access Memories was released, with the exception of her work with The Weeknd on two tracks from his 2016 album Starboy: “I Feel it Coming” and the title track
