Sturla Holm Laegreid won his fourth medal at the Biathlon World Championships in 2021 with the victory in the 15 km long mass start for men in Pokljuka
The Norwegian, who had already stood on the podium in the individual 20 km, the men’s team and the mixed relay competitions in Slovenia, continued his productive fortnight with an excellent performance
Laegreid just missed a 20 shot with the rifle and came home in 36:272 to beat fellow countryman Johannes Dale in second place
Dale was 10 years old, 2 seconds slower than his compatriot, and took his second World Championship medal after taking bronze on the 20K earlier this week
Quentin Fillot Maillet made sure it wasn’t a purely Norwegian podium by taking bronze for France, his first medal of the competition, and Austrian Simon Eder finished fourth
The biggest surprise of the day came from World Cup leader Johannes Thinges Boe, who finished eighth after five mistakes with the pistol
Boe has a lead of 32 points over Laegreid in the men’s world championship, but returns from the world championship without a single medal
