MANILA, Philippines – With the 56 Anvil Awards recognized the excellence of organizations that are creatively and effectively adapted to the changes and limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic

One of the organizations that won multiple awards at this year’s Anvil Awards – with the theme “PR for Good” – was the PhilSTAR Media Group, which received gold and two silver medals for two of its multimedia campaigns in 2020

The Filipino STAR launched through its newest lifestyle platform, PhilSTAR L! fe, on the occasion of the 34 Founding anniversary of the broadsheet “In Between: The Art of Moving Forward” The campaign was awarded a gold prize for the “Multimedia / Digital – Social Media Tool” category and a silver prize for the “Specialized Public Relations Program – Advocacy Campaign” ”

Through stories from over 100 writers, The Philippine STAR has explored how the world was forced to evolve beyond its pre-pandemic practices how people were confined to their spaces while being stretched to see newer, larger images of mental and physical survival

The STAR accompanied the written narratives of determination with a series of tiny documentaries showing people affected by the pandemic and a series of inspired illustrations that later graced Uniqlo’s stores as statement shirts

The stories showed variations of unhindered life, new and missed opportunities, lost love, the state of the nation, economic struggles, and medical successes

“I’m honored to be part of this documentary of history. Sometimes we long to just forget to fake that bleak, unprecedented moment in our lives that didn’t happen. But we need to remember it – as we do felt how we acted and how it worked – because it’s the only way to survive. We’re still learning from all that experience and writing our story together, ”says Sheila Paras, Head of Digital and Overall Project Management of the PhilSTAR Media Group

The media group’s BusinessWorld Insights online forums were also awarded silver for “Exhibitions and special events – conferences / congresses” “Under the motto“ We mean business ”, BusinessWorld reported in its online seminars on changes in various industries

BusinessWorld invited the top minds in the industry, from Manny Pangilinan to George Royeca, to show how their respective trades matured due to the abrupt disruptions in 2020

The Anvil Awards are organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines and are widely recognized as the “Oscars of Philippine PR”

The anvil symbolizes strength and valor, and the awards recognize the strength and resilience of these organizations as they introduced and demonstrated programs and tools that helped the public relations industry adapt to changing needs

Only 142 out of 534 entries won an award based on a two-tier rating based on the criteria, 86 PR programs and 36 PR tools won Silver Anvils, while 12 PR programs and four PR tools won Gold Anvils Home brought

Nestle Philippines brought the Grand Anvil to the top public relations program with its program, “The NESCAFE Plan: Converting Farmers to Farmers to Create a Sustainable and Advanced Coffee Industry in the Philippines”

PLDT-Smart has received the platinum anvil for “PLDT-Smart # CyberSmart Caravans: Promoting cybersecurity and security among teachers and students” It was also awarded the prestigious award for Company of the Year

Another big winner was the Page One Group, which again won the coveted Agency of the Year pennant and received the award for the fifth time in a row
