IF you’ve had 21 babies already, you’d think the novelty of the first scan would have waned – but for Sue Radford, hearing her daughter Heidie’s heartbeat is still a “magical” experience

While filming her new Channel 5 show 22 Kids and Counting during the lockdown, 45-year-old Sue, who has been pregnant for over 16.5 years, welcomed her 11th birthday Daughter with husband Noel

Sue said: “This first scan is always very exciting. At that moment you can see the small heartbeat flicker

Sue described how her shortest job was 45 minutes and her longest 36 hours, adding, “So many people keep asking,” Is it getting easier? “No!”

Before Sue and Noel of Morecambe, Lancashire, welcomed Heidie in April 2020, they had already spent over £ 1 million growing their bumper brood

Noel thought about this stunning figure and said, “I’m trying not to think too much about what it costs. What could I have had instead?

Instead, the couple, who live on a bakery and do not rely on services, pressed their large brood into a former nursing home with 10 beds

After first meeting his little sister, 13-year-old Josh said he hoped his parents would keep their word and stop having children

He joked, “I feel like we’re running out of actual rooms in the house. You have to stop at some point, right?”

With 18 of their children still living at home, Noel is under pressure to support his enormous family through his cake shop

He said, “It’s about 30000 pounds just to keep the house going and feed everyone So it’s a lot of cakes we have to sell to support us all!

If I could tell what really drives me crazy in this house, it has to be the laundry. On an average day, I can do four to five loads of laundry. It never ends

“It is a great responsibility to have 22 children, I try not to let it come to me”

Though Noel was forced to close the cake shop at the beginning of the pandemic, his second oldest daughter, Chloe, suggested running the business online – and sales have more than doubled since then

Full-time mom Sue also cut out her work at home with all of the kids for her – and spends hours every day tidying the house and washing multiple loads

She said, “If I could say what is really driving me crazy in this house, it has to be the laundry

However, the couple invested in an 18kg, industrial-size washing machine for the basement, and Noel treated his wife with a robotic vacuum cleaner in the first episode of their documentary series

Sue announced that her weekly grocery bills have increased more than £ 100 to a total of £ 400, with the majority of her brood being at home in jail

The Radfords consume 16 liters of milk and four loaves of bread a day and go through 80 yogurt, three tubes of toothpaste and 24 toilet rolls every week

And if there’s sausage on the menu that night, Sue has to make sure she puts a stunning 56 under the grill

Sue also revealed that Fajita Night included a whopping 5kg of chicken, 1kg of cheese, and four packets of tortilla wraps

Additionally, Sue estimates that the family has celebrated 288 birthdays in the past 31 years

She said, “That’s a lot of gift wrapping and although we have many birthdays all year round, we always make sure the kids have a special day”

For four-year-old Phoebe’s birthday, the couple spent a total of £ 350 on their gifts – and Noel estimates they’ve gone up to 90 since the birth of their eldest son, Chris, 31Spent 000 pounds on birthday gifts

Meanwhile, Noel added, “Our luxuries are really the children – and money cannot buy what we have”

With nine kids under 10 living under the same roof, bedtime can be a struggle for Noel and Sue

Sue described how they are “like yo-yo the stars up and down” and said, “You have to sit there [with the younger ones] until they go to sleep”

Prior to the pandemic, Noel said the family relied heavily on routine – but admitted how the younger children struggled with the lockdown

He added, “We are often asked,” How do you lead such a large family? “And it’s usually routine. But there just wasn’t any of that [in lockdown]. We really cling to straws and try to make up things to keep them busy

“Six or seven weeks for the summer is hard enough, but we’re down to six months now. It’s just a nightmare”
