The 48-year-old actor finished filming as Max Branning in December and his final scenes aired last week

The father of two told Good Morning Britain: “It was a sad moment. Fifteen years is a long time on any show. It was emotional

“I finished filming three months ago so it was a bit strange to watch it again”

And he said of the womanizing of his alter ego: “I’ve been with my wife for 26 years this year, so I couldn’t be more different than Max””

Wood made his debut as Max in Albert Square in 2006, but briefly played Jackson, a young homeless man, 16 years ago

“I have two teenagers at home who teach at home, a dog who needs eye drops every hour … and a chicken coop that needs to be cleared out,” he said, “so I’ve never been so busy!”
