John Robertson has been put on a compassionate vacation at Inverness Caley Thistle The Championship Club is now looking for a temporary short-term manager and assistant

The heart legend Robertson, who suffered family damage, will return to the role at a future date to be determined

The Inverness Club also announced that Assistant Manager Scott Kellacher, who was recently absent from the club, had suffered a serious illness and would not be returning for the foreseeable future

While Kellacher’s illness has nothing to do with Robertson stepping down from his frontline duties, chief executive Scot Gardiner said the double setbacks put “colossal pressure” on the club at a crucial point in the campaign. p>

Subject to a swift temporary appointment, coaches Barry Wilson and Ryan Esson will take on the home game against Alloa

But the Highland Club believes that taking on team affairs until Robertson returns would be unduly demanding given his own commitments

Gardiner said, “John has been compassionately given leave and the club is right behind him at this very difficult time

“Whether it is five days, five weeks or five months, it will stay and he will remain our manager and Scott our assistant manager

“Charlie Christie will also be helping out on the training ground, but he has his own important role in the club on various projects”

Caley Thistle hopes to convince a veteran soccer figure to fill the void before Robertson returns
