NICK Knowles has admitted crying in gas station parking lots after filming emotional scenes on DIY SOS

The 58-year-old says he tries his best not to cry in front of the camera – but is often overwhelmed by emotions on the way home

He said to ITV’s Lorraine today, “When this moment comes down, I get off the screen because I don’t think those moments are about me at the end of the show”

“It’s about the strength of the people I speak to and the donation of the 300 people it takes to volunteer their time in 100 companies that give their material

“So when we get to the moments when it’s emotional, a lot of TV presenters are going to turn on some kind of horn right now because this is your opportunity for emotion

“I tend to go out of my way so that people who volunteer and people whose lives are changing can have this moment in common

“I don’t think you need a TV presenter at this point, but yeah, I get a little screeching pretty often

“We’re going to end the program and drive about 50 miles down the freeway and pull into a gas station in a corner of the parking lot and cry a little on our own”
