REPUBLIC OF IRELAND International Richard Keogh returned to Derby County when his Huddersfield Town side lost 2-0 at Pride Park

Derby terminated Keogh’s contract after an internal investigation in 2019 for “gross misconduct” after Keogh was injured in a car accident with then-teammates Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett

Lawrence and Bennett, who later admitted drinking and driving, were fined the equivalent of six weeks’ wages – the contractual maximum – by Derby, but not fired Keogh instead moved to League One with MK Dons, where he was returned to the championship due to his performance in January with a transfer to Huddersfield in January

Tonight was Keogh’s first game against Derby since he was eliminated Derby manager Wayne Rooney insisted that his players keep their focus before the game and postpone any talks with Keogh until after the game
It was an unfortunate return for Keogh when goals from George Edmundson and Martin Waghorn in both halves gave Rooney’s side a 2-0 win and Derby to 19 Elevated place in the league and a place above Huddersfield

Jason Knight played for Derby to the last minute while Huddersfield saw substitute Jaden Brown sent off for two bookings in the last 15 minutes of play

Meanwhile, Norwich built their lead at the top of the championship thanks to a 3-1 away win over Birmingham, which takes a single place outside the relegation zone, on 10 points from Teemu Pukki scoring twice – his goal was in the first half canceled by Ivan Sanchez of the Blues – and Oliver Skipp added a late goal to further improve the goal line Scott Hogan played the full game for Birmingham while Adam Idah played for the last few minutes from the bench
