A Seattle woman got more than she expected when she bought a crochet kit at a thrift store and discovered a kilogram of cocaine in it, authorities said
The woman bought the kit to crochet animal hats around 3 p.m. Sunday in the Greenwood neighborhood, the Seattle Police Department said in a press release
But when the crochet hobbyist opened the kit, she found suspicious packaging wrapped in yellow rubber with “100%” written on the outside. The item also gave off a “strange smell,” police said

The woman immediately called the police, who seized the suspicious package and later confirmed that it contained a kilogram or two pounds of cocaine
The police did not say how the crochet kit and narcotics ended up in the thrift store
A similar incident occurred on Sunday in Arizona when parents bought their child a toy glowworm at a thrift store and contained a sandwich bag containing 5000 tablets suspected fentanyls found
The parents called the authorities and handed the drugs over to officials, according to the Phoenix Police Department
