West Ham and Charlton face off in the Carabao Cup second round tonight and talkSPORT will bring you the clash live.

West Ham slumped to a woeful home defeat to Newcastle on Saturday and are currently embroiled in a host of off-field problems.

Hammers fans are growing increasingly angry at the club’s board and lack of transfer activity and the club are in desperate need of a boost.

Charlton, who beat Crewe Alexandra on their League One return at the weekend, have also had their fair share of issues off the pitch too following their relegation last season.

Both teams will be eager to win in east London and put some of their problems behind them.

Leeds United or Hull City will await tonight’s winner in the third round and talkSPORT will be at the London Stadium to see who will make it through.

Full coverage from the London Stadium will be live on talkSPORT, with our coverage starting at 7pm.

West Ham boss David Moyes: “We will do everything we can to progress in the Carabao Cup, a competition which will advance and reach the latter stages quickly due to the opening rounds being played in the early weeks of this season.

“I’ve always tried to win every cup in which my club has been entered. Ultimately though, the Premier League will always be a priority for every member club because of the finances it generates, particularly during these times made more uncertain by the presence of COVID-19.

“Tonight’s game will provide me with a chance to give some players an opportunity to show me what they can do. I have always believed throughout my managerial career that success in any competition is a good thing.

“Tonight’s tie presents the incentive of another home draw in the third round but the downside is that, once again, you won’t be able to join us.

“We hope that will change at some stage in the not too distant future because, believe me, we are missing you and looking forward to your return as soon as possible.”

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer: “I’m excited. It’s the first time I’ve been to that stadium as a manager. Obviously West Ham has a place in my heart, so I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s an opportunity to go and play against a Premier League side. I won’t have to say much [to my players] apart from ‘enjoy it, learn and express yourselves’.

“We’re going to go there and take the game to them. Whatever game I turn up, with whatever squad, I try and win the game.

“There will be a good side out there tomorrow that try and do the right things as much as they possibly can. We just have to be patient at times and create chances.”
