World news – UK – Peter Crouch on the rise of the Choupo-Moting flop from Stoke City

Former Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has given his thoughts on the rise of former potters team Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

The time spent by Choupo-Moting in the pottery was considered a failure as it was part of the side of town which was relegated in 2018

He only scored five goals in 26 Premier League starts for Stoke before securing a free transfer to Paris St Germain

The 31-year-old helped PSG reach the Champions League final last season, where he was beaten by Bayern, the club he joined on a two-year contract before the date transfer limit

In his latest ‘Ask Crouchie’ column for Mail Online, Crouch was asked: When you played with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting at Stoke, did you expect his next two clubs to be PSG and Bayern Munich?

Crouch responded, “We both scored five goals in 2017-18, Paul Maybe I undersold and pulled out too early Which I would say, to be fair to Eric is that he had so much talent

« You could see in practice that he was a player, but it just didn’t turn out the way it should have for him on a match day

« It was probably normal that he ended up in Paris after Stoke When he was there the locker room looked like Paris Fashion Week He used to wear clobber which, really, had to be a bit confidence to succeed

« He had jeans draped in a set of oversized keys and chains He had trench coats that went down to the floor – nothing was off limits

« But Eric was a good boy and he obviously has a fantastic agent who gave him fantastic opportunities. Good luck to him »
